EN: I had a bunch of cashmere yarn and did not have a pattern for it. This is how my 31 year old dress story begins. Because I wanted this dress as a present for myself for turning 31 this year. The I found the Layered Lace Dress by Lorna Miser, published on the Red Hearts website. And I fell in love with the pattern. I searched through my stash for the yarn and 8 mm needles and cast on quickly. Followed the smallest size pattern. I was a bit afraid my dress would be too tight, because my yarn is a lot thinner than the yarn recommended in the pattern, but then I remembered it will be very flexible because I am working with such huge needles. And I was right, the dress is lovely, drapes well.

The pattern itself it’s very easy, for the skirt part you have to follow a pattern of 6 rows until desired length and for the upper part you have to follow 4 rows of repeats. I started this project in June and finished it in August. Of course this could have been done in a week, but I get bored of working the same project on an on and I love to juggle between projects.

Initially I thought about sewing an underdress, because it’s quite see through, but then I remembered women used to wear satin or silk undergarments for dresses. At least that’s what my mom used to wear under see through dresses. And the advantage of these undergarments is that I can always change the color. So instead of sewing something, I decided to buy some silky undergarments. And I love the result.

The dress is gorgeous, feels soft and fine, drapes well and even though it became a little longer after washing, I still find it wonderful.

How do you like my dress?
