Crochet Flower in a pot – Floare crosetata in ghiveci

EN: My biggest challenge in this past few weeks has been making 20 crochet roses using silk. Yes, silk. Such precious fiber and so hard to work with. So I needed a relaxing project and this was a crochet flower in a pot. I used Catania Schachenmayr and Alize Cotton Gold yarn, which are quite different yarns. The first is 100% cotton and the second is a bit thicker and 50% cotton, 50% acrylic. But both yarns are easy to work with and blend very well. Used the 2 mm hook because I really wanted the flower to be tight and compact.

Initially I downloaded a free pattern from Ravelry, but I forgot to use it. Because I had just started listening to Ruth Ozeki‘s book, [amazon_textlink asin=’0143124870′ text=’A Tale for Time Being’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’us-1′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’61c66d65-b297-11e8-89eb-e33675bab0bc’]. It’s a wonderful journey throughout Japan and Canada and I got hooked. I just crocheted and imagined the Japanese traditions described by the audiobook. I love listening to podcasts (fyi: BBC has very good documentaries) and audiobooks. Especially when the project is light and allows for day dreaming :)))

Anyway, my final crochet flower in a pot is a little over 20 cm height and I had to use grains to fill the pot. To make it heavier, because the flowers were quite heavy.

What do you think? 🙂
